Unlocking Hidden Potential: How Small Adjustments Create Big Transformations

Sometimes, the most profound growth starts with a tiny adjustment—a shift so subtle it’s hard to believe it could make a difference. That’s what I recently discovered during a weightlifting session with my trainer. What began as a routine workout turned into a powerful lesson about alignment, hidden potential, and the value of having someone who can see what we cannot.

The Power of Being Seen

For as long as I can remember, I’ve had a slight imbalance in my body—a weakness in my right glute. It’s something I’ve compensated for over the years without much thought. But during our session, my trainer noticed what I hadn’t: my pelvis was slightly misaligned during bridge exercises.

What’s fascinating is that I didn’t feel misaligned. My body had adapted to this imbalance so well that it felt like “normal.” But my trainer could see the subtle ways I was compensating—how my knee collapsed inward, how my pelvis tilted unevenly—and offered guidance to correct it.

He suggested small adjustments: shifting my pelvis by millimeters, repositioning my knee just slightly. At first, these changes felt completely unnatural, even wrong. But as I leaned into them, something incredible happened. I could suddenly lift higher, with more power and stability.

Unlocking What’s Already There

These subtle shifts didn’t just improve my form; they unlocked strength and mobility I didn’t realize I had. By aligning my body, I stopped relying on compensations and started accessing the muscles designed to do the work.

The experience left me in awe—not just of what my body could do, but of how much I would have missed without someone to guide me. My trainer saw what I couldn’t see. He helped me recognize patterns I was blind to and showed me how even the smallest adjustments could lead to profound transformation.

The Hidden Habits We Carry

This experience mirrors how we show up in other areas of life. Over time, we all develop habits—emotional, behavioral, and physical—that help us navigate the world. These patterns become so ingrained that they feel like “just how we are.”

When faced with challenges, we rely on familiar responses: the stories we tell ourselves, the emotions we default to, the postures we assume. These habits are often invisible to us because we’ve lived with them for so long. But they don’t always serve us well—they can limit our potential, keep us stuck, or cause unnecessary strain.

How a Coach Helps You See the Unseen

This is where a coach becomes invaluable. Like my weightlifting trainer, a skilled coach can see the patterns you’re blind to. They notice the small ways you might be misaligned—whether in your mindset, your behaviors, or your approach to challenges.

Through gentle guidance, they help you make subtle adjustments. At first, these shifts might feel uncomfortable or unfamiliar. But as you explore them, you discover new capabilities—strengths and resources you didn’t realize were within you all along.

Small Adjustments, Big Breakthroughs

Somatic coaching, in particular, taps into the wisdom of the body. It invites you to notice how your emotions, thoughts, and physicality are interconnected. Much like adjusting your form in a workout, small changes in how you respond to stress, navigate conflict, or inhabit your body can create profound shifts in your energy, confidence, and effectiveness.

The beauty of this process is that it’s not about becoming someone new. It’s about uncovering the potential that’s been within you all along—and aligning yourself to access it fully.

What Could You Unlock?

What habits might you be compensating for without realizing it? What potential could you unlock if someone helped you see the things you can’t?

Growth doesn’t always require drastic changes. Sometimes, it’s about trusting someone to point out what you’ve been missing, feeling the discomfort of adjustment, and discovering just how much power alignment—both in body and mind—can bring.

The right coach can help you bridge the gap between where you are and where you want to be, guiding you toward small shifts that unlock big transformations. After all, the key to your greatest potential might be hidden in the smallest adjustment.
